a portion from my friend's email correspondence:

Focus on Others' Needs and You Will Need Less.

The more we concern ourselves with providing for others
and their ability to have JUST ENOUGH,
the less we will be concerned about what we do and don’t have.
If all we ever see is our own needs
and the desires that drive our pursuit of them,
the greater our chances of craving more than is necessary
to live in the sweet spot of simplicity...

we were talking abt how some have a good job, good life but all
these things are eating them in and emptying them on d contrary.
while some may not have as much as them, yet they are living
such full and meaningful lives.

a HDB flat to a high end private property?
some live under shelters with no protection.
a cheap car to the latest BM series?
some walk miles to get to school.
an expensive coach bag?
some have only a few (pre owned) clothings they call their own.
meals at cafes and restaurants?
some do not know when's d next meal gonna come.

it's not tat we cant better our lives and enjoy d fruits of our labour.
i dun believe in living like a church mouse. we needa be rich.
but do we really need all the things we wanna get?
or can we get for others the things they need with wat we can give?

if u r finding no meaning in spite of watever u are doing....
perhaps, it's time to stop chasing things for yourself and do
something for someone who lacks what you do not need. (=

it's more blessed to give than to receive.
